Jade Stairs Resentment

On steps of jade
White dew forms.
It creeps within
Her stocking of fine silk
As night grows long.

She lowers then
The water-crystal blind,
And through its glittering gems
She gazes
At the autumn moon.

Li Bai (740 A.D.)
